Radioactivity

Week 12 - May 3-7, 2021

To finish off our physics unit we will explore what happens when atoms change into other atoms. The products of radioactivity both particles and radiation surround us daily so what we need to understand is the amount of exposure and how it affects us. Practical aspects of nuclear decay like isotope trancing in medicine and isotope dating will also be explored along with the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear for electrical power generation.

On Wednesday we will head out for a day trip to Comox Lake, exploring the trails, micro-ecosystems and diversity. The forecast looks great so hopefully it will be a fun day out in the sunshine.
