Week 5, Sep 26 - Oct 7, 2022
To take a more in-depth look at the socio-environmental aspects of a watershed we will virtually travel down the Colorado River. Supplying 40 million people directly with water, and even us indirectly, the 2334 km river tells an important story of how to manage water as a resource. We will end the week with a round table discussion where students will represent the many stakeholders including those that support the intrinsic value of the river itself. Like the Whanganui River in New Zealand, that was given "personhood"; maybe our rivers deserve more of a say in their future.
On Thursday October 6th we will be going on our second field trip to Pt Holmes. At a low tide we will explore Biodiversity of the Marine environment as well as doing a marine plastics survey.
