Marine Primary Production

Week 12 - November 23-27, 2020

A huge portion of the life on the planet exists in the World's oceans. We start our Marine unit with the bottom of the ecological energy pyramid, the producers. By examining ocean circulation and nutrient input, and understanding the requirements of plants, we will learn about the often hidden world of photosynthetic plankton. Macroscopically, with samples from our very own beaches, we will also study multi-cellular algae, (seaweed), before our plankton drag outing on Friday.
