Week 13-15 - November 29 - December 17, 2021
As we progress through the Marine Unit we will examine our our backyard. The Salish Sea; including the Georgia Straight, Straight of Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound, is an incredibly diverse and vibrant ecosystem. Once the home to 10s of thousands of indigenous peoples living sustainably with the environment, the Salish Sea has now been pushed beyond a healthy threshold. We will discuss the many stakeholders and their influences on this marine system.
The culmination of the study will be a wall poster of the Salish Sea answering the question: Is the Salish Sea healthy enough for the Southern Resident Orca to thrive? We will explore the problems and the possible solutions.
